I brought my camera to school with me one day last week. The sky was gloomy and it looked like it might rain at any moment. But every once in a while the clouds would part and the light would break free and I'd have to shield my eyes, the contrasting brilliance was overwhelming.
I started taking classes in 2012 to complete the college degree I left in limbo more than a decade (or two) ago. Being in a classroom was something I always enjoyed. Reading was my favorite pastime as far back as I can remember. Even if the discussion is over my head I love hearing ideas and concepts bouncing around the room.
The campus is small and the program I'm in is for working adults back to complete their degrees. Night classes with excellent instructors and intelligent students. Even after a long day at work I'm happy to be here.
There are plenty of old oak trees and a little stream. I see birds and rabbits and at night when I'm walking to the parking lot I hear hundreds of frogs. The library is one of my most favorite places. It's quiet and there are tons of books and a variety of desks, tables and even comfy chairs to choose from.
This has been a wonderful experience for me and I am so grateful that I took that first step. My family and friends have been very supportive, cheering me on and listening to practice presentations. My appreciation for them is boundless.

Good for you Kathleen, so wonderful that you are happy to be there even after a long day of work! I love exploring places through my camera and seeing the beauty I might not otherwise have noticed :)
ReplyDeleteKath, you have been so inspiring with your hard work in school. I'm glad it's a place you like to be. Looks like there is a lot to photograph too. There is such a beautiful variety of texture, lines, and nature in these shots. The sky through the oak trees is one of my faves. I see a man's head in the clouds at the top. He has a very prominent chin! Great work, my friend. Love you.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you Kathleen, it sounds like you are at your place right now. I have so much respect for people who study in their adult years. I also love your beautiful images from around your campus, it seems like a really special place. I wish you all the best with your studies and I look forward to see more from you.
ReplyDeleteGood for you to be going to school and with a full time job! That is amazing. I am glad you are enjoying it, too. You photos of the campus are wonderful. I love the perspective on that first one of the railing. And those trees are absolutely gorgeous
ReplyDeleteGood luck with your studies! I am always so inspired by people who love to learn! I loved getting to see your campus through your lens!
