April 10 on 10: Say hello to my little friends!

I am completely enamored with hummingbirds.

Seeing them in the neighborhood I took the opportunity to hang a feeder so I could watch them through our kitchen window.

Their speed and agility are breathtaking.

Such tiny feet yet, as landing gear, completely effective.

Attempting to capture how they maneuver using their tail feathers...

There have been moments when all four places are taken and another is hovering waiting for a spot to open.

So many colors and personalities.

It has been a meditative practice to wait and watch. I attempt to find a spot close enough to capture the details with decent lighting. They are very active in the late afternoon when the light is fading which can be challenging for faster shutter speeds.

I am awed by their energy and poise, simultaneously powerful and delicate. Taking lessons from nature makes me aware that I can remain calm in the midst of chaos.

I can choose to stay true to myself, take care of myself and look toward what fills my heart with joy.
