It's March and I've been longing for a beach day. As the crow (or duck) flies, the beach isn't too far from where I live, but to get there I must travel freeways and canyon roads. It only makes sense if I can devote at least half a day to get there and relax.
Working for a CPA during the season o' tax doesn't leave much time for leisure. Finding even the smallest pocket of time, stopping by this park on my way home, to take a few photos feels like an easy slow breath.
Listening to the water, watching others at play and rest connects me to an easier pace.
I watched her come in for a water landing.
Then her date arrived.
Why did the ducks cross the road you ask? To get to the toddler with handfuls of bread.
Back at home I try for a good clean image of the many hummingbirds that visit our feeder. (I'll keep trying)
We have a small slice of open land behind our back fence. I've spotted an owl, many hawks, a few coyotes but only this squirrel sat still long enough to get a shot.
This tree in our backyard had green heart shaped leaves when we moved in last summer. All the leaves fell in the fall and it's been bare for months. I was sitting at breakfast with my son and caught a flash of purple through the window. There are beautiful purple buds on the branches and they are bursting right from the bark too.
I love the habit of taking photos. It keeps me awake, noticing the light, the shadows, and any nature I can find in our little suburb.
And as I said I'd try brave baby steps...here is my first selfie. Wishing you all a beautiful Spring ~ for more 10 on 10 loveliness please continue to Laura's post HERE
The flower bursting from the bark is magnificent. And I love the water fountain shot too. What a beautiful collection of images.
ReplyDeleteThank you! I am fascinated with that tree, I probably have about 50 shots from all angles - it's so interesting to the stages of growth.
DeleteBeautiful images! I love the painterly sky in the first shot, and the gold leaves around the squirrel. That fountain is beautiful - have you shot it with a slow shutter? I bet it would be quite ethereal! Glad you were able to carve out that time and share with us :)
ReplyDeleteI do want to try some slow shutter shots! Thank you Connie, I like the first one too ~
DeleteLovely images! Your tree (it's a Redbud) is gorgeous...we have two in our yard and my images of the buds didn't make the cut for this month, so glad you included yours!
ReplyDeleteThank you Laura! A Redbud tree, I was wondering what it was. I hope to see yours soon too.
