Leisure

by Kathleen Ries on Thursday, October 28, 2010 at 7:05am

Leisure is gone - gone where the spinning wheels are gone, and the packhorses, and the slow wagons, and the peddlers who brought bargains to the door on sunny afternoons. George Eliot

I was made for leisure. I love hammocks and books and parks and the beach and can't remember the last time I was near one. Where did I get the idea that I need to always be "doing" something? Forever chores and errands and to-do lists. It's maybe why I'm drawn to Jane Austen novels - they took walks, read books and visited friends (for months at a time). Can I give up multi-tasking in the name of leisure? Do one thing at a time and then do nothing.

  1. I wish we could visit each other for a month at time. Wouldn't that be heaven? I'm looking forward to so many more of your words. Love you! : )
